Registered Provisional Psychologist
Designation and Experience:
I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist and a Canadian Certified Counsellor. I am
supervised by Aspen Gowers. R. Psych., who is also a Certified Play Therapy
Supervisor in Canada, the United States and Internationally. I hold a B.A. in Psychology
from Trinity Western University, obtained in 1995. I have my Master’s degree in
counselling from the University of Athabasca, obtained in 2011. I have received
professional training in many therapeutic modalities, including CBT, Accelerated
Resolution Therapy (ART), Gottman Couples Therapy, Emotion Focused Family
Therapy (EFFT), and Neufeld Attachment-Based Developmental approaches. I have
also completed additional training in play-based techniques through Rocky Mountain
Play Therapy Institute, The Canadian Association for Play Therapy and the Alberta Play
Therapy Association. I have worked in several non-profit organizations in the areas of
child, adolescent and adult mental health. Currently, outside of private practice, I
support physicians and pediatricians in the Calgary area.
What Inspires You:
Watching people’s innate ability to overcome their struggles inspires me. I enjoy my
work, supporting children, adolescents or adults on their own journey of growth and
development. I am also inspired by my 3 adopted teenagers. Their resilience and joy
amaze me daily.
My proudest accomplishment is finishing my Master’s degree while working full-time;
supporting families who had adopted children/teens and working in another agency
where my entire job was trauma-focused. I also was honoured to be awarded the Glass
Ceiling Award and the Walker Family Scholarship in my final year. The Walker Family
Scholarship was based on my work with children and adolescents.
Hobbies and Interests:
I absolutely love to travel. I grew up living in Japan, Cameroon and Nigeria. I have
travelled to Germany, Ireland, England, Switzerland, Jamaica, Cuba, parts of the
Caribbean, Mexico, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, Ethiopia and Kenya. I also enjoy a
good book. My three adopted children are extremely gifted in the arts. I have come to
enjoy art, music and drama so much more through their talents. I also enjoy playing with
my three Japanese spaniels.
